I say "Ladies Room" which seems to be understood well. I don't think anyone I know says toilet, mostly they say "Loo" I think.

My family and friends wouldn't say 'toilet' either. It's icky.

Thing I find cringe-making is people who blow on their food before eating it. Or, people who when feeding their child put the food in their own mouth first to cool it. Yuk.

Okay, I get the child thing, but just blowing on your own food?  Why?

I dunno, it's gonna blow germs around for one thing. I think it just makes me think that person is too greedy to wait until the food cools down on its own on the plate.

I cannot stand it when people lick their fingers to help them remove the top sheet in a stack of papers which others have to handle. I have complained about it often. When I was small, my mother suddenly turned to leave a cake shop before she got to the front of the line. When we were outside, she explained that she had observed the the serving lady licking her fingers to get the top paper bag from the stack. She said that such an action was not only uncouth, but unhygienic. She never went back to that shop.

I hate that too!  One of my co-workers does that when she's standing there reading the Mirror and it just grosses me out.

Diarrhea.  You'd think after having three kids, I'd be used to it, but after they get to be about two, and having suffered increasinly worse nausea with each pregnancy, it turns my stomach every time.

I have to just stand the affected child in the shower, clothes and all, to deal.

Vomit I can do, even vomit caught in long hair, which is pretty gross.

But I can't do diarrhea.

I think what Geeta said is that she understood why it would be considered gross to put food in your mouth to cool it down, but that she didn't understand what was gross about blowing on food.

Is that right, Geeta?

Exactly right, chary!  I said that I understood why BostonDiner found it gross if someone put food in their mouth and then fed it to someone else, but I did not understand why blowing on your own food is considered gross.

I remember at age 10 going to a classmate's birthday party and her father was dishing up the ice cream.  After each serving he would lick the scoop. [smiley=sick.gif]  I mean -- even at that tender age my girl friend and I were too grossed out to eat any of it!

Okay, that's clearly gross.  Still don't get blowing on your own food, though!  I am guessing you also find blowing out birthday candles gross?

Sort of -- well, with the current influenza concerns, definitely.

But blowing out birthday candles must be worse than blowing on your own food, because everyone eats the cake that you're blowing germs on!  Whereas you're the only one eating the food you've blown on.
