I think the World section varies from shop to shop, though, depending on the demographics of the surrounding population. We don't have any Jamaican stuff in our Tesco, so no eggnog. But I'd just as soon make my own, anyway, so it's OK.

Is eggnog Jamaican??

As far I as I know Cambridge doesn't have a huge Jamaican population, but who knows!

It is very popular in Jamaica.

That is the stuff I get.  It isn't as good as the stuff at home, but it ain't bad either.  ;)

Way up there in New Brunswick, my mother used to get this stuff called Seager's Egg Flip which she said was "an English Christmas drink", which was similar to, but not the same as Lait de Poule which they have in Québec, which itself is very similar to some eggnog I had in Maine.

I quite like advocaat

My mom started our family Christmas tradition. As we were growing up, each year one of our presents would be a new ornament for the tree. It was something that was specific to each of us. For example, I liked Woodstock and my sister liked Snoopy so one year those were the ornaments we got. My mom would write our initials and the year somewhere on them. Then when we grew up and moved out on our own and had our own Christmas trees, our ornaments came with us.

I've continued the tradition with my kids starting with their first Christmas. Every year when we decorate the tree, it's neat to look at each ornament and whose it is and from what year and hang them on the tree. I hope my sons continue the tradition with their kids. Actually, my mom has continued it with the grandkids too. So they really have 2 ornaments for each year.

This is my mom's tradition too!!! I have a great collection!!!  :)

It's cool to hear that other people have this tradition as well!  I love this one.
It seems a lot of us have similar traditions.  I continue them here as much as possible, except for things like driving around to look at the lights. :(

We always got to open one present on Christmas Eve.  The parents picked it out of course so it wouldn't be the best one.

Some friends and I in the US had a very elaborate game we used to play when driving around looking at lights! We made up score sheets and you'd get points for seeing things like: something on a roof, an all blue-lit house, piped music, Mrs. Claus, all of the reindeers, etc. Some things were worth more points than others; Mrs. Claus, for instance. You had to write down the name of the road so it could be verified later. And the winner got ... well, nothing really. It was just fun.  :)

We also did this. What's with the parents always picking out a bunk gift? It always seemed to be socks, pajamas, or other non amazing gifts at least in a child's eyes. It was totally lame for a kid to receive them but now I would be all excited about pj's.  ;D

We used to go to Christmas Tree Lane when I lived in California. It was a huge strip of houses and they were all deck out with decorations and lights! Each house got better and better! Loved that! Sadly when I moved out of Cali I never found an other place like it.

That is a great idea! We are going to have to do that this year, thanks!!  :D
