Posting reply problem
« on: November 09, 2009, 08:23:25 PM »
Has anyone else encountered a problem when composing a reply and if the reply is longer than the text box, that the text jumps to show the top of the reply.

Hard to describe but you can scroll down using the scroll bar on the right and see the text at the bottom but the moment you click in the text box, the box jumps to dsplay the text at the top of the reply.

Also say if I left click and drag and select text, only the top can be selected as it won't allow me to drag and select to the the bottom.

Hope this makes sense.

If it is a longer message, I'll compose it in word and the cut and paste.

Using XP with IE8

Thanks

I have this problem when I am using IE8 (I'm on Vista) but when I'm using my AOL browser I don't have this problem.

Yea  I never noticed this until I upgraded to IE8.

BUT I think I have found a solution...

on IE8 look to the right of the address bar and you will see a broken page icon. This is Compatibility View. It says Web sites designed for older browers will often look better, and problems such as out of place menus, images or text will be corrected.

I clicked on that seems to cured this problem.  Whoo Hoo!!!

It's an IE8 issue. Next to the address bar there's a button that looks like a broken piece of paper, if you click that, it will force the browser to reload and use IE7 compatibility mode on the page and solve the problem. I should add some code to force it to always use compatibility mode.

Cross posted with Ayoubob, yep. :)

Hi, my name is Nate from the IE8 Outreach Team. For those of you regularly visiting a site with IE8 that requires Compatibility View, I wanted to share how you can have Internet Explorer load the site in Compatibility View by default. To have a site loaded automatically in Compatibility View every time you visit it: click Tools --> Compatibility View Settings --> Add this website: type in the site URL. For example, "http://www.talk.uk-yankee.com".
