Maclaren have recalled a load of buggies in the US due to children getting their fingers caught in the hinges. The same buggies are available in the UK but are not being recalled here (YET).

Thank you!  We had the Quest which we left at my mom's last year.  (Bought it in the US) Nothing ever happened, but still.  Ouch, poor kids!

If you have one from the US, you can order hinge covers.

I know they're not being recalled here but I thought I'd post it for the safety info anyway.

I'm very glad you posted this - I hadn't heard about the recall yet!  Thanks.

I know, I was just mentioning it because I saw on the news this morning and they specifically mentioned there were no plans for a recall in the UK.

Signed,
very proud owner and lover of a Maclaren Techno Classic pushchair thats been across the ocean several times and is used every single day.

I reckon there will be. I saw the news that Maclaren said that they're not recalling them in the UK because the pram complies with EU regulations but I think it's a bit of bad publicity. If they're still trapping kids hands in the UK and they refuse to replace or give guards or whatnot, parents are going to be in an uproar.

A lot of the posts I have seen are basically saying stupid Americans who can't watch their kids, but then kids get into things all the time.

It is a cheap and easy way to solve a problem that might not affect everyone, but could have a major affect on a few.

Yes, because we American parents have cornered the market when it comes to stupidity.  Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to give my son a packet of matches and some firecrackers...

Don't forget the lighter fluid!!

The BBC article even featured two women in the UK whose children had had their fingertips taken off by these strollers!

They're now issuing safety kits (hinge covers) in the UK.
