Huh.  I never realized that people sometimes meant "not really" when they said "quite".  If someone had told me that a meal was "quite nice" I would have thought that they meant it was pretty good.  Learn something new every day.

Back on topic, I think a sentence like this might have made your co-worker sufficiently enraged:

"Seriously, dude, like totally not cool."  Something I might have actually uttered at one point...I might make an effort to start saying "seriously" more often, just because it's kind of funny.  ;)

I never did say awesome very much, though.  The adjective of choice when I was a kid was "sweet".  Or "excellent".
"I don't bother nobody, I'm a real nice guy.  Kinda laid back like a dead fly." --Rappin' Duke

It's especially funny now that my four-year-old is saying: Seriously, mommy, I need some sugar.

I obviously overuse that term!

Hahahahaha.  I know I picked up mine living in California... however, I don't think my husband appreciates it so much when I call him "dude".

HAHAHA!!!! I had that conversation with DH, as well. I don't call him dude anymore. But thinking back, my ex in Texas didn't like it when I called him dude, either, so I guess maybe it's universal.  ;)

I call EVERYONE dude, including DH (who's not British, of course, and is from the West coast so he doesn't mind a bit).  We call each other dude at the office.  We even call our BOSS dude!  And he calls us dude too.  It's great!

Don't stop using awesome!  It's not like it's an inappropriate word here....like if a Brit were in the US and said "fag" for cigarette, well, that's an example of a word you would try to "steer them away from"...add "awesomeness" to your awesome vocab as well.  :)

This reminds me that MIL was trying to teach DD to say '*bleep*' when referring to a cat...We plan on going back to the US next year so this isn't going to be something that we teach her how to say.

Oh yeah, that could prove for some awkward situations, LOL!!!

Going back to awesome... I used awesome today in my job training and it made me think of this thread.  We had to come up with team names for an exercise, and I said my team should be the Awesome Advisors.... oh yes, I'm already bringing the awesome-ness into my workplace. Hahahaha.

I've been using the word awesome lately just to amuse myself. No one ever noticed. I find the word brilliant way more overused than awesome. It's like a verbal tick.
