Similiar Shops in the UK???
« on: November 12, 2009, 09:53:49 PM »
What shops in the UK are akin to:

For pretty things for home:

Pottery Barn

Crate and Barrel

Williams-Sonoma

For Womens Clothes (Petite preferably)

Banana Republic

Ann Taylor

Any suggestions are most appreciated, and if you could send website links too, even better.

Thanks :)

Umm, Pottery Barn/Crate and Barrel....well, something like Heals is sort of similar.
Williams-Sonoma...a friend said to me she thought Lakeland was similar

Womans clothes shops, I can't recommend just one shop, there are lots on the high street.

I definitely think Heals is similar to Crate & Barrel.

Habitat is also Crate & Barrel-ish, but doesn't quite do it for me style-wise.

I'm not sure where you're moving, but Banana Republic has a store on Regent Street.

I will be in Manchester, I heard Banana was in the UK but I don't think there is one up near us.

THANK YOU! HEALS, YES! I have been to this shop in Manchester City Centre and I just could not remember the name. It was a great shop of all sorts of home goodies :)

There's a Banana, but it's like, double the price of Banana in the US.  I don't find it worth it.  (And I was a dedicated BR fan for years.)  But they do carry the petite line, and it's true to size as to how it is in the  US, so there's that.  I believe it's on Regent Street, right?

In terms of petite stores, I haven't found a lot of luck although many of the high street stores (Uniqlo, H&M, Topshop, Gap) have petite lines.  I haven't found an Ann Taylor type store yet, though.  (You pretty much named every store I'd shop at at home).

For most of my clothing purchases here, I've been sticking with the Gap, Uniqlo, the HaM, and sometimes Jigsaw, if on sale.

For petite women's wear you may want to look at House of Fraser, John Lewis, Debenhams or M&S (althought M&S is quite hit or miss on clothes and can be quite offputting when you spy something you like and find all the grandmas pawing over it but you can find some really nice style pieces there).  If you have a look at their websites they don't make it inherently obvious that they do petite ranges, but if you just put petite in the search engine it'll bring up all the clothes.

However, like Racheee mentioned there are a lot of stores that do petite ranges, but they just don't always make it obvious like stores in the US tend to do.

Good luck!

M&Co do petite clothes, as do Dorothy Perkins. I find both to be reasonable and good quality, though I mostly shop at M&Co.

Yes, Banana is expensive enough as it is I already can only buy in the US when on SALE. Glad there is an H&M we don't have these in Florida but they have them in NYC and have always been dead jealous.

Agree that Heals and Habitat are good for home stuff. Lakeland for practical stuff, but I wouldn't say "pretty" per se. Cargo is good too. And The Pier. Of course all of those are chains - it can be fun combing antique fairs, boot sales, and auctions for home wares too!

I like Lombok and Graham and Green for furniture and decor shopping.

And of course we got our first Anthropologie store a few weeks ago, already been twice!
