Oh, ugh.  That really, really sucks.  I'm so sorry -- after all you've been through.  That's not the happy ending you were looking for.  Good luck.   :)

I'm so, so sorry to hear about poor Monkey's plight - what a nightmare.  :\\\'(  I wish I could help!  I've got two boys of my own, though, so not an ideal situation for a kitty who needs to be an only. :(  I hope that somehow it all works out for y'all....

Ugh that sucks :-( Did you try reintroducing them reeeeealllly slowly?

Cats are *special* creatures aren't they?

ETA: I read your blog post about Monkey, and it sounds awful. I agree with you that her quality of life does not sound the best right now. Is it in your power to consider consulting with a veterinary behaviorist? If you talk with your regular vet, there might be one in your area he/she can refer you to.

I watched the videos you posted and it looks like Monkey has some pretty severe anxiety (I am not a vet yet, this is just my personal opinion, obvs). There are prescription medications that can help reduce anxiety while you work on a plan to help Monkey come to terms with her new situation. There are also medications that can increase her confidence if she is being bullied. I know it sounds nuts but just an option if you haven't thought about it. Sometimes extreme environment changes like the one Monkey experienced can cause that kind of generalized anxiety.

Either way, I really hope that things work out. Monkey seems like a great cat, poor thing - I wish there was something I could do to help. Best of luck!

Thanks for the replies guys. One lady did email me about a woman who may possibly want Monkey. Just the thought of giving her up makes me ill. I don't know if I could go through with it even if they found a "perfect" home.

My husband is off friday , I think I will make her a vet appointment. We discussed that a while back, maybe something to calm her down. Ugh ...why can't anything just go smooth. lol

I would absolutely second Reinadeluz's advice of seeking vet treatment.  My dog had/is having a VERY hard time with her move to the UK, and my vet prescribed "herbal anti depressants" and a pheremone diffuser (which can be bought off the shelf at a store like Pets at Home if you have them in your area) and my dog is doing so much better after this treatment.
In your case, your vet may reccommend prozac which can be given simply by rubbing in on their ear so you dont need to worry about a daily pill.
Happy thoughts to you and Monkey... keep us posted.

She has an appointment Friday , hubby will be home with the car. And SO does Cavuto. This morning I noticed that he is chewing his stomach bald again just like he did when he was in quarantine.
Apparently Monkey is stressing HIM out too.

The vet also told me about "feliway" ,I'll be getting that tomorrow. She said it plugs in like an air freshener. But I wonder if it will tell you how many you need for a 2 story cracker box.

                                            Thanks for your help!

The feliway is the phermone difuser thing I was refering too.  The canine version seems to help my dog and I feliway helped my cat back home in America.
I have 1 canine one just in the room where my dog spends most of her time. The box will tell you how much space one will cover if you want to do the whole house.

That's wonderful! Please let us know what your vet tells you to do, I'm curious :-) I really hope this works things out for Monkey and the rest of the kittehs.

Yikes! I bought the feliway yesterday and it was nearly 30 pounds for ONE of them. It's been plugged in since yesterday afternoon and all the cats do seem a bit calmer. Maybe there is hope afterall :)

I can not smell the thing at all.

Awww, that's terrible. I'm so sorry your kitty is so discontented. Maybe it will get better with time. If they have lived together peacefully before, then there is always hope. I had to rehome a cat once because the cat I already had hated him and refused to eat or socialize the way he used to, and I realised it just wasn't going to work out. But that was a new cat I tried to introduce and I only had him for a few months. Good luck with this, I hope the new treatments help.

I know your pain. One of our cats spent a week in hospital after an accident, and wasn't warmly receptive by her best friend when she finally made it home. It was really difficult for all of us. I was worried they would never be as close as they once were, and Charlotte was very stressed out and depressed by the rejection. It seemed like an endless battle, but eventually they came around. It was nearly a month before things were back to normal, so don't lose heart.

You really have to just treat the situation like you would if you were introducing new cats. Don't let them see each other at all, and switch sleeping blankets and toys back between them.

Smocha -

From personal experience, fluoxetine (Prozac) worked on my cat. When my ex and I split, he acted really down. Then when I moved, he started peeing on everything in the new house!  I found a great vet who finally listened as I was in tears and so frustrated. She recommended adding more litter boxes (I had 2 cats so she said 3 boxes).  She also put him on the kitty Prozac (oral suspension).  She also recommended confining him to one room of the house and let that be his space - free other pets in the house.  It worked like a charm.  He was allowed out for "supervised visits" and after 2 weeks had full run of the house.

Best of luck to you.  I hear that some cats are very emotional creatures and carry around a lot of anxiety and stress.  Key is to find a good vet who is willing to listen and help in any way and explore more unconventional things like my vet did.

Hi all,

Monkey and Cavuto went to the vet yesterday. She also reccomended the multiple litter boxes , Feliway and she put both of them on some natural form of Valium. It's for a 2 week trial to see if it helps any.

I'll let you guys know how it works out.
