Potty Training Success

Hooray!

I'm pleased to say that I've had five consecutive DRY days with my 2 year old son who I've been potty training.

I had a hard time getting him to take to the idea.  My older son was a piece of cake, but the little guy is of a more stubborn constitution.  For ages, getting him to even sit on the potty ended in a tantrum.  He would take the potty and "put it away now" into the closet.   >:(

With his third birthday looming on the horizon, I was getting worried.  So i took some advice from a no-nonsense friend of mine, and a mother of three.  Her approach was given to her by her health visitor.  It was a "be firm but not angry and they'll soon give up on it and go with the program" approach  But you had to buck up and be prepared to ride out a few bad days with a good supply of clean underwear and clothes.

Well, I'm happy to say, it worked!   Day one was a nightmare.  Day two was an improvement with several successes.  Day three, we had more successes than accidents.  Then with each day, there were fewer accidents until we have just had five accident-free days AND now he's telling us when he needs a wee.  Oh happy days!   :D

Of course, I'm sure there will be accidents in the future, but I have much to celebrate!!!!!!!!

Oh I envy you! Coby will be 3 the end of December. I was hoping to have him trained by the end of the summer but my health visitor told me its a bad time since we just had a new baby. I think Ill start after summer holiday. He already knows to go before his bath but I think he thinks that the only time he has to use the toilet. :)
