I think she'll just have to apply for a visitor's visa.  The visa waiver program isn't available to her now, so she'll have to go through the motions of applying like someone from a non VWP country.

Ladymoonwalker, I'm really sorry you've had to go through all of this, but I think you've given lots of people a good lesson.  It always pays to be honest when you're asked a direct question by an IO....the fact that you denied Patrick was your boyfriend multiple times couldn't have done you any favors!   :(

I agree with Lola. It is hard not to lie in these situations, but lying must be the worst possible thing to do. From here on in let's go by the book, even if it takes a while. You will get here, Shala! :)

It never occurred to me that there was any such creature!   DUH!!  :-X  Of course there is... i guess its just that i'd never heard of an American using this option.

Awww babes *huggles* it's been my pleasure to help you with this in every way!!

I'm hoping to be out there by 8 September...if I am, I'll be hunting you down!! You, me, my hubby and Patch will all have to get together for drinkies!!

As I told you yesterday I admire how quickly you're getting back on the 'horse' and getting out there and trying to get your visa. It took me four months to work up the courage to apply for the visitors visa and to get over that initial shock of being denied. But my husband was the only one who was there for me at the time through everything and when all was said and done...it was that which brought us really close together. It was the worst time in my life and yet he stood by me no problem at all.

I imagine Patch will do the same for you! He sounds like he wants you back there as badly as you want to be there. If you do decide you guys want to get married, once you come home, I'm sure you can apply for the fiancee' visa if you guys are ready to take that step. But I can't wait to hear what happens with you getting your visa hun!!

It took me awhile to tell my friends as well when I got home, I was embarassed especially as they had thrown me a party before I left thinking it would be awhile till we would all see eachother...boy was my face red.  :-[

*hugs* I'll be here for you no matter what hun!!

x x x - Missy  :-*

P.S. Oh and I stated that he was my boyfriend (at the time) just because I knew that they wouldn't believe me that I was staying with a bloke 100% of the time and that it was completely platonic. Be as honest as possible lovey!

Shala, if they've asked you to outline your plans, I think they're wanting to see that you have definite plans while you're there...tickets to a play, plans to tour a specific cathedral, etc.  A big list of every tourist attraction isn't what they'll want to see because that could be whipped up by anyone in a matter of minutes.  Get it down to brass tacks...what are you wanting to do while you're here?

Agreed.  And perhaps more critically, it's high season and the IO is likely to see about £2,500 in tickets, transport, lodging, and what-not in that list and wonder where that sort of money is coming from...

I agree with Lola, you need to show more concrete plans AND you need to be honest about your relationship with Patrick. You need to tell them you are coming to visit him but also do the tourist thing at the same time. If you can show you have booked a couple of trips away/day trips together at least, you will be on safer ground I think. The more vague you are, the less credible you will seem. This is meant to be constructive rather than negative, hope it comes across that way.

Good luck!

It would wear me out to see all of those attractions in a year let alone a few months.  Maybe write down a few attractions that you feel are a "must see" and do some computer printouts with information about them.

Another thing you could do is join the National Trust so you could have free admission to some very interesting places.  If you did join, you wouldn't receive the member's card and book in time before you leave but you could have a printout from their site about how to join.  Just costs £25.

My hubby says you might want to rethink Peckham.  It's been a while, but he bets you have less chance of running into Delboy and more of running into Jack the Ripper.

And I agree that your list should be pared down to things you might actually do.  When are you and your boyfriend going to have time to go to Edinburgh and Loch Ness and North Wales?  It would take someone over a year to see all those different things, I think, unless they just rushed through everything!

Also, you don't need to mention inyour list what the attraction is.  The Immigration people will know, for example, that GMT comes from Greenwich, that Kew Gardens are famous, and that how Stonehenge was built is a mystery.  You need to know those things without consulting a list, otherwise it will seem, as Lola said, that you just went through a tour guide and copied stuff down.  WHY do you want to see Kew gardens?  Do you have a particular interest in gardens?  Do you want to go to Hampton Court because you have a particular interest in history? (BTW...London Dungeons is a tourist attraction museum.  It was never actually used as a prison for Kings and Queens.  You might be confusing it with the Tower of London, which was at several points in history.)

Pare the list down and think about why you want to see those particular sites.  I see you have dates for some of your things, and that's great.

Good luck!

haha hriht
i listed  those things anyhouw and wrot e a few more things down.
THe lady i talked to at the desk today liked my list and laughed at the part about me liking chocolate :) i told her that  it was just a few things i may want t see and its just on  a white pice of paper i printed out and tried to make look personalable. OBVIOUSLY not all those things are going to be done, and nobody can ever do ALL of anything on a trip.
She didnt ask was he my boyfriend this time, but i am sure that on the phone interview they might.

i am so nervous..
she said to make sure i get my papers from being detained together ( they didnt give me much of anything really ) but she was nice..
i am glad she was smiling and friendly
it made my worrying seeem silly.
I was asked were they my funds, why i  am not working now ( obviously cos i had planed to take this trip lol) and ect.. i just askd  to stay for 2 months and 3 wweeks not  six months as that would sound silly to ask for that again.. I told her that i asked for the six momths but planned on changing my ticket if i got to the point i figured i had done it all.

It was nervous for me, but she made me feel comfy.
they have to contact the airport ( OH GOD :(  ) do a report , call me back next week ( cos it friday) and then HOPEFULLY i will get stamped.
I am so scared everybody.  but i got a note from my manager at the bank saying those were my funds ect.
 HELPPPPPP
u guys rock thanks for the advice on that.
i know what u mean about the list, but i wanted to show that i was planing on doing SOMEHING FUN.
 Shala
