thank you everyone for your reply's,today ( weds ) drove the 15 miles to the county court ( never trust a sat nav, ended up at first roundabout, and headed back where i just came from,so 8 miles back, then 8 miles back again the way i was going lol ),anyway, got to the court, payed 40-00 pounds and they did the search and after 10 minutes came back with a copy of the absolute from 1982 my first divorce....so all sorted and one less thing to worry about...thanks all

God news, BB. Just remember that those divorce docs shouldn't be copied or left with the US courthouse issuing the marriage license. They should only need to look at them for verification, if they even ask, which they well might not.
I say this, because it can become an issue with less savvy clerks and US public offices are subject to the open records act. That means anything they have on file is open to the general public to look through and copy!  I've had to fight a battle on the issue and I just hate it when civil servants overstep their bounds.  :P

Remember, the UKBA will want the certified copies included in your wife's visa app. I don't know if they will even look at the old one, but better safe than sorry.

Merry Christmas to you both!!!!  :)
