Just moved and have xmass presents to buy!
« on: December 12, 2009, 06:54:49 PM »
Hey uk-yankees,

Not sure if anyone else is in somewhat of a pickle like I am...I just moved back to London with my husband and well... seeing there was a lot of expenses in moving I am a little low on funds and a bit unsure what to buy my husband for the holidays.

Anyone having this dilemma or could offer any suggestions for gift ideas under $150 dollars (going to put it on my old bank account). Trying to figure out a way in getting something nice but not sure what websites to look at.

What sort of things is he into? What about tickets to a show? Or tickets to go ice skating at Somerset House or Hampton Court? lastminute.com has loads of things like that.

I just got a bunch of little things on Amazon for my dh - he likes opening stuff! He's getting CDs, books, and playstation games. I'd think you could get tonnes of stuff for 150 - plus shipping will be free....

Has lots of fun kitchy stuff; this is th second year I've hit it up for hubby-related purchases, and while I didn't find as much of interest this time around, I still found some cute things that I think he'll enjoy.  The rest of my shopping followed Anne's advice -  Amazon is an excellent catch-all place for bits and bobs. :)

I got dh a tiny indoor helicopter from them a couple of years ago! The novelty wore off reasonably quickly, but he liked it a lot for a while and it was definitely something different!  :D

Oh, I'm fond of the mugs myself - I don't think a person can have enough interesting coffee mugs, and we both rather enjoy the global warming mug;D

I'm really glad you posted this Colleen  :) I'm having such a hard time deciding what to get my hubby for Xmas too! He is the kid of guy that when I ask what he wants for Xmas/Bday he usually replies "nothing, save your money."  ::) I only have about £50 to spend so hope I will find something from one of the links above.

He is a gaming nut but he gets free games through work (I have been playing Wii atleast 8 hours a day while he is working lol) thanks for some of the suggestions, its really hard shopping for someone that spoils them self rotten. I did get him a nice wallet he was asking for, will have a lot at one of those sites.

LOL! Mine's getting one this year! But not from iwantoneofthose - from www.play.com instead. I like them. I ordered a calendar, some books, DVDs, audiobooks, a mini snow-maker (I don't get it but he likes snow), some rude gimmicky gifts (think X-rated Etch-a-Sketch) and loads of other little things. I know I spent well over $150, but he likes to have lots of things to open instead of one big gift. I also got him some "nice" things like a new hat and gloves, a posh new hairbrush, etc.

Where does he work?

I'm thinking of getting my DB a guitar Fx pedal, but don't know which one. I'm hoping the guys on Denmark street will help, then I'll buy it online (running out of time!!!)

Does he play an instrument, would he like to play an instrument?

It's madness!  Every time we pass by one in a store, he has to stop and look it over and say 'see, this is what I want for Christmas!'  It's kind of cute, I suppose.

Hahah, I'd happily take Scalextric to play with... if we had the room.  I guess we could set something up in the attic space... >_>
