Can anyone recommend anywhere? I'll be up town on Saturday :)

Preferably around the Waterloo area?

I seem to recall a video the Embassy put out saying they have photo capabilities on site, but I don't know the truth of this. :s

They have a US passport photo booth in the non-US citizen visa application part of the Embassy, so you can get photos done while you are there for a visa interview, so I would imagine they have a booth in the US citizen passport application area too :).

Also, you can get US passport photos done at Snappy Snaps too - I got my visa photos done there, but they are quite pricey... I think it was something like £7 for two or £10 for four at the Snappy Snaps in Bristol.

Heh, I'm just hoping the pharmacy downstairs can do American passport photos (I'm in Bedford).  I've got to register the baby when (s)he's born and all of that, and I don't fancy attempting to get appropriate pictures by myself in a booth. xD

449 Oxford Street any good?

Near Charing Cross

Cheers for that Trem. I did see the Charing Cross one on the embassy website, but couldn't get through on the phone so didn't know if they were still there. It's not too much of a trek, but I'm coming in to Waterloo, then meeting some UKYers at Waterloo station so didn't want to cross the river if I could help it. It's not that far, I know but I'l be with someone who's not up for a lot of running around at the mo. I was sort of hoping for something closer. I might just install her in the Sloe bar at Waterloo and take myself off LOL

Embassy is no good as (a) it's a US renewal (I'm American) so have to do it by post and (b) I need UK and Canadian passport photos too.

Just out of curiosity - in what way does a US passport photo differ to a UK passport photo? I never realised there was a difference!

The difference is in the size - US passport photos are 2 inches x 2 inches (50.8mm x 50.8mm), but UK passport photos are 35mm x 45mm.

The US Embassy is very particular about their passport photo sizes, so you have to get passport/visa photos done somewhere that will print in US size instead of UK size (photos from a normal UK photo booth are not good enough unfortunately ::)).

Snappy Snaps or whatever it's called will do US passport photos.  Just tell them what you need.

Snappy Snaps recommendation from me too.  They did a fab job on Jean's US and UK ones.  Next time mine's up for renewal I'll definitely do them there.

I'm in the sticks, and had 4 US passports to do, so if you have the time I'd recommend passpics.com.

Got them all there at a great price and they passed with flying colours.

Snappy Snaps and paspic.com

Both most excellent suggestions! Thanks!

Turns out there's a Snappy Snaps just down the road from me, so I can try that, but I think I'll give paspic.com a go.
