UKY dreams?
« on: December 19, 2009, 07:09:13 AM »
Do you dream about UKYers? I do. I've had dreams about people here that I know, but also about those I've never met. For instance, I've had several dreams about bmore2uk and last night it was phatbeetle! I've never met either of them! And sometimes, I just dream about the forum. A few weeks ago, I dreamt that I posted something absolutely horrible and then I woke in the morning feeling really upset about it!

Please tell me I'm not the only one!  ;D

You are totally not the only one!  I don't remember my dreams often from the night before.  But on the occasion I do...
Recently, I also had a dream about Bmore!!!  LOL!  I remember we were in the forest/woods ??? walking and talking and her DH ran past us at one point.  It took me a while to realize that he was running a marathon there and we were watching. ;D  I've never met either of them either!!!

I have had dreams about people on the forum (including some I haven't met in person), but I can't remember any of the dreams just now. You definitely aren't the only one, though!

Wow, so strange, I swear just last night I had my first UKY dream! It wasn't about any one person though. In my dream I was reading a post (don't remember what about) and in the post I saw the acronym DDD. I remember thinking what the heck does that mean? It looks like you're not alone in this one Chary.

I have dreamt about posting things in here but can't recall any of the dreams just now. Can't say for sure if I have dreamt about anyone in here. Probably will now. I have dreamt about other ones like FB but then I know the people in there. But I would say you're not alone.

But not dreaming, do you ever 'see' other UKYer's that you've never met? There have been occasions, I think oh that persons looks like ... based upon their avatar or picture in the gallery. There is one woman that drops two children at school in the morning and she looks so much like Jewlz's old avatar picture. And I once nearly went up to a guy in Aberdeen to ask him if he were DennistheMenace! But I couldn't bring my self to ask a complete stranger if they are 'User Name'. And then sometimes when I'm in a city and hear an American accent, I wonder if that person could be a fellow UKYer? Maybe we should have a little badge...

I do this too lol.

I don't think I've had any dreams about UKY or members, but I did once have a dream (shortly after photos were posted on FB) that I woke up one morning and miraculously I had a cooker just like Chary's  ;D  I drooled over that photo so no surprise that I ended up dreaming about it!

Yes, but I thought it had to do with my slight weirdness more than anything else.  When I was a kid it was more pervasive, but even now, I always have images for people online.  They stay that way when I see their posts or emails even after I meet them.  Even the person/image that comes to my head from my husband's emails/posts look different to me than he does, and while they are a sort of an amalgamation of all of his online nicknames/sn, they usually exhibit a certain individual characteristic.  Like his name for a game forum where he plays a character looks different than his email name, but if I could draw them, you'd probably see they are similar.

I hope that makes sense.

Yeah, and I always think if they aren't a UKYank they should be.  But then I remember that there are lots of Americans here that probably wouldn't get much out of the board or would be a wrong fit for our community.

I've not started dreaming about you lot yet... but I'm sure it'll come. :)  I definitely dream about other sites that I'm active on, so it's only a matter of time!

Haha! I hope I'm hot in all your dreams!  ;D Stacey, that is hilarious about DH running past us in a marathon.

I think the first UKYer to appear in my dream was Chary and her husband. We were on a cruise ship. I dreamed once about Mrs Robinson and Mapleleafgirl which was bizarre because I have no idea what she even looks like. We were driving in a very small car (which you'll discover is a recurring theme with UKY people) and I remember it was a really fun atmosphere. Most recently it was Chary, Stacey, Abby Normal, and Abby Normal's husband and son all headed in what could only be described as a clown car, on a 3 hour trip to Chicago for the final game in the World Series. Abby Normal drinking her Big Gulp while she was driving. One notably weird thing about that dream is that I only see Abby Normal from the side (as I'm comfortably riding in the back seat with 3 others). I think this is because her FB profile picture doesn't show her whole face and that's all I could see in my dream. This dream was so ridiculous I pretty much woke up laughing.

Oh, and I have never met any of these people in person. I wonder if I would dream about them if I did!

I'm a freak.

It makes 110% sense to me. I couldn't have said it better.

I don't have dreams about the forum per se, but I do have dreams about members sometimes.  Some I've met, some I haven't.

But I have to say that Bmore's dream about the Big Gulp may be my all-time favorite!

Smokin'!  :-*

Last night, I dreamt that phatbeetle had posted a UP that she found a nativity scene thing that she'd been searching for and really loved. It was in a box that she hadn't unpacked yet and she was unexpectedly pleased to find it right on top of the first box she looked in.

Then later on, I was with her looking at this nativity scene ... and it wasn't very nice! It was basically little pieces of wood (more like sticks) lying in a box, sort of vaguely arranged to represent Joseph, Mary et al. I had to be polite and pretend I really liked it.  :P

Well, it could've been this delicious nativity scene:

*drools at the baby Jesus*  Sacrelicious!

((edited to note)) With no offense meant to the particularly religious - I think it's an adorable idea, and I REALLY love my carrots and sprouts!

Now I want to know what you dreamt about J and me?  :)  (Did it involve turtle bars?!)

Can't say I've dreamt about any UKY-ers, not that I can remember anyway.  I had a freaky dream once that I was at a current-day John Lennon concert - he was alive, not dead...and I was very excited in the dream thinking - 'genau! ought to be here at the concert too' (but I know her in RL).  Then John Lennon kicked a dog at the concert, people got naturally aggro at him about it & he just said - 'hey sorry mate I just have a thing about dogs'.  :P

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

This was the one. I think when I originally told you who was in the dream I told you the wrong person. It was definitely MLG.

In fact, you were the star of the show. I was riding with you in your black Ford Ka as we went to pick up MLG (whom I've never met, seen a picture of, or spoken to) and someone else from UKY (but I can't remember who it was). I rode in the back with MLG. You were a little nervous driving, but you did okay! I think this is because one of the last things I read was about your husband getting a sat nav for his birthday.
