Christmas morning - We got married at a bed and breakfast on Amelia Island, Florida last year. For breakfast our first morning as a married couple we had their bacon strada, and they sold a cookbook with recipies from the various B&B'....so we have that for Christmas day breakfast.

:o

Um, cutest tradition EVER.
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

The first few years I was here, Christmas was spent with the in-laws in Dublin.  We'd go to mass with MIL and FIL in the morning, and then we'd all head to the Forty Foot in Dun Laoghaire to watch people jump off of it into the sea; always good for a giggle.  After that, it was just getting dinner ready, and having dinner and presents were always opened after dinner.

This year will be our second Christmas on our own.  DD is starting to understand a bit about Santa, so we'll be leaving cookies and milk out.  The kids are going to open one present Christmas Eve (this is what we did at my house when I was little) and the rest Christmas morning.  I also come from a family of the "Big Breakfast for Christmas Morning", so that will continue here too.  I'm really just looking forward to staying in my jammies and playing with the kids; we have no plans to go anywhere so we can just relax.

In my late teens, we developed the tradition of eating finger food and supping champagne while we opened presents on Xmas morning.
...the whole damn thing will turn
and return redefined, rearranged, rearranged...

Last year on Christmas Eve, and this year, we are having a big cheese plate with pate and other nibbles for our tea while we have some drinks and watch whatever is on telly.

Christmas Day - last year we both went to the pub in the morning since his mom was cooking lunch for us, but this year, I am cooking the dinner while he goes to the pub with the boys for a few pints in the late morning / early afternoon (it's tradition in our village that the lads go to the pub to get out of the way of their women! And mostly because they don't want to have to help.  :P) I will also be having a nip while I am cooking.  ;) Of course, we will open gifts first, except that none of ours to each other are wrapped since we went on a big shopping spree in the US and just bought our own stuff this year.  :)

Boxing Day - all day drink fest. The women go their own way, the men go their own way, and both sides frequently meet up throughout the day but keep separating to go to different bars. Last year, I was wasted by 3pm and ended up in lying in the bushes (Mrs R loves this story...lol) but this year, I will try to maintain my composure. I have decreed the new law is to have a full English in the morning before we go out. My SIL is picking me up at noon to walk to her girlfriend's house and have a drink there, then it's on to the pub crawl. There are 14 pubs in our village, and we will probably make it to about 10 of them. Lord have mercy on me!  :P I am planning to throw together a spinach strata to pop in the oven when we come in all drunk in the evening. Hopefully this year, I won't ralph all over the place like last year, or do anything else crazy.  :-X
