Christmas Hampers
« on: December 22, 2009, 10:11:19 PM »
I've decided to make a hamper for my boyfriends parents. . I've never put together one before. And would like it if someone can give me some more ideas for what to put in it???

So far I have

-bottle of whisky, bottle of vodka and a bottle of wine
-scented candles
- a mug for both his parents
-tin of biscuits
-box of celebration chocolates

I don't know what else to put in it?

by the way- boyfriend isnt much help with ideas, he just gives them money each year for Christmas! lol

It depends on what sort of thing they like really. If it were me, I'd go to a gourmet deli and get some interesting foodie things that you can't pick up in an ordinary supermarket.

I veer to the side of traditional christmassy hampers, so the stuff I'd go for is :

Preserves/Jams.
Fancy cheese biscuits (the charcoal ones are impressive)
Nice tea in tins
A stilton
Port rather than wine maybe? It's very christmassy.
A christmas pudding
Fruit in booze (like peaches in alcohol)
Pannetone cake
Nuts
Brandy Butter
After dinner mints

thats the thing though, they arent the typical "boyfriends parents" lol, they are really laid back and a good laugh, so getting them cheese and deli would be boring lol
for example, for the mugs, I got his dad a mug with a 3D set of tits on it,and his mom a Ed Hardy mug.
Ack! Gonna go through Sainsburys to see if I can see anything!  thanks all!

Wouldn't it have been better to post that first? ;)

I thought by hamper you meant traditional hamper, what you're describing is lots of presents in a wicker basket, which is not disimilar to filling a stocking.

Maybe you should look at stocking gifts rather than hamper stuff.
