Weird.  Is styrofoam petroleum-based?

The polystyrene used in it is petroleum based, so that's probably why it's not allowed.   ;)

Here's what you can't bring into the UK:
Quote
Prohibited Imports (Select UK from the drop down)
Prohibited items include unlicensed drugs, offensive weapons, indecent and obscene material featuring children, counterfeit and pirated goods, meat, dairy and other animal products, and pornography.

Restricted items include firearms, explosives and ammunition, live animals, endangered species, certain plants and their produce and radio transmitters.

Just so ya know Zoya, David brought back part of our wedding cake & no one ever said anything. Of course that is no guarantee that no one will. But at least you know it has been done. :)

It doesn't make any sense about the polystyrene container- as how many times do people bring boxes through that have packing peanuts, and foam protectors- i.e. electronic devices like a PS3 and they have the whole box and contents- even things you buy past security have them too sometimes

I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Once several years ago when I was flying back to the US from England, I saw a few posters in Heathrow airport that listed banned items from both carry-on and checked luggage.  Live snails was on the list.  "Who and why would anyone bring back live snails?!" I thought.  Well it turns out the "pretty shells" I collected from somewhere in Cornwall were in fact live snails!  I found out after I got home--I put the 7 or so "shells" at the base of a large cactus plant and the next day they had crawled up and all over it!  Obviously they were snails, but I had no clue at the time I had collected them!  :P

Thanks guys and princesslemons for starting this ;-)

Our cake topper is small on purpose, since I knew we needed to travel with it.  It has no cream or berries on purpose.  To be honest I think I had the lady make it a spice cake ( It was common over in the UK and it held up well) but I don't remember since it was not eaten or cut into.

Funny huh?

Can I find the email where I told her what I want? No
Does it matter? No

I figure it will not be the freshest when I get there but that isn't the point.  The custom according to DH was to have it to eat the day of your first babies christening BUT I am not sure it will fit in our freezer it may have to go to his dad's house.

haha

I think the US custom is to eat it on your first anniversary, which I like better considering we are not planning on having children!

Andee - yeah that is the custom I knew but DH said that was the UK custom.

So I want to have kids within the next year or so...

If I am not preggo by Nov 28th 2010 then we will be eating it on our 1 year because I will be 35 then and I think I would be pushing it getting preggo after that...(don't throw cans at me for saying that).

;-)

Don't stress yourself out about it (not good for conceiving!)  and really, these days I think you've got until nearer to 40.  There's still plenty of time.

I surely hope 35 is not pushing it or I'm in big trouble.  I'm hoping to do it once more at least and I'm already 36.

You are young, healthy, active--you'll be fine (in my non-professional opinion!)  These days 40 is the new 30!
