Tsunami warnings are canceled now, though I suppose aftershocks could change that.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Thirteen aftershocks, at least seven of them above a 5.0?  That's just insane, and more scary than I can fathom.  Hopefully it'll stop/slow down soon. :(

It's awful. Those poor people. I saw a special on the BBC last year about how the Haitians were so poor, they made mud pies to eat. Now this....  :-X :\\\'(

oh no oh no oh no! I've got a sewing friend in Haiti, and I was just emailing her yesterday! I hope she's okay - there's nothing on her blog but I doubt the internet would be working even if her own electricity supply is running (I know she's got a battery backup and inverter for the frequent blackouts). She's an internet friend, though, so I don't have a phone number for her or anything.... Fingers crossed.

I have a friend whose SIL is there working as a nurse.

No one is unable to make contact with her via mobile so far, either.

My friend's okay! I emailed another friend in Baltimore who knows her, too, and she rang the brother, who's spoken to them in Haiti. Apparently the roof caved in on their house but they weren't in it at the time, so they're okay and staying with friends now. PHEW!

Fingers crossed your nurse is okay, too...
