I do that when drinking, but really only with accents that are stronger or similar to mine.  So, I've got a pretty muted almost non-NY accent, but if I'm hanging out with anyone with a stronger accent (so say, back in Bay Ridge), boom, full out lack of r's, str.  Only when drinking, though!

I believe Peaceful said in another post that she was in her "sixth decade" so I am guessing she may have been born pre-1962.  ;)

I am in my 6th decade too. I was 10 in 1962.

At least it would let us whippersnappers know where to NOT go if we want to avoid getting whapped by canes... right?  Oh, who am I kidding - there's an old lady with a walker waiting to break free in me too. ;)
