Bridesmaids and ring bearer gifts???
« on: January 18, 2010, 06:21:53 PM »
I thought I had my bridesmaid gifts figured out, but the website I ordered off of screwed that up. I need some ideas- I have three bridesmaids (my sister, best friend, and df's sister). I was going to do cute pink hard shell suitcases with polkadot luggage tags with their first name monogramed on. I can't find any other affordable suitcases and the place I ordered from is out of stock. So I need some more ideas.

My ringbearer is 10 yrs old. His sisters are my flower girls. I started nannying for him when he was 18 months old and he was diagnosed with cancer at 29 months. He's healthy today- looking at him you would never guess that he'd ever been sick. I want to get him something cool and special. Most wedding websites/books/magazines suggest sterling silver piggy banks. He would not be impressed. Anyone have any ideas?

The flower girls are getting wedding day barbie and Ken and a small bag that says their name and "flower girl"

For a ring bearer that age I'd go with something more tied to his interests than wedding-related.

What is he carrying the rings in/on?  If you're not doing a pillow consider a wooden chest like a pirate - he can then keep it for keeping special treasures of his own in.

I got my bridesmaid and flower girl the jewelry they wore in the wedding. I also got the flower girl (who was 7) a heart shaped mirror with pink beads all around it because she loves pink and she loves to look at herself! I got my ring bearer (who was 10) a baseball hat from one of the colleges here and my brother in law (who was the best man) got a nice fitted baseball hat from UNC. What if you got him a nice sports jersey from his favorite team?

We didn't do traditional gifts for our bridesmaids or ushers. There's no rule that you have to buy monogrammed weddingy type stuff! I got them things that I knew they'd like - one got some things for her kitchen as she'd just moved into a new house, another got a lovely Tiffany necklace and the third one got a voucher to a day spa (she came over from the US so I didn't want her to have to pack anything heavy).

You know all three of them, so just choose things they'd enjoy and appreciate!

As for the ring bearer, definitely get him something fun!
