France accused the US of "occupying" Haiti on Monday as thousands of American troops flooded into the country to take charge of aid efforts.

When I read this in the media I want to say, who specifically in France said this? Because it is a dumb statement it should not have been repeated.IMO

A quick Google revealed that Hugo Chavez has said that - no big surprise there!  And there was this from the Torygraph:

I think the concern is that US troops have been preventing planes from other countries landing at the airport.
