Flower delivery to US
« on: January 19, 2010, 10:53:36 AM »
Are there any particular companies you use to send flowers, balloons or the like to the states? I need to have some flowers or a cake or something sent to my grandma for her birthday on Saturday, but I can't decide what to send! I sent some flowers to my mom using www.firstinflowers.com, which is nice because they have a currency calculator, but it seems that the bouquet she got was different than the one I picked out! I never said anything about it, though. Any other sites you would recommend?

I think I used 1800flowers.com. I sent flowers to my mom once and the bouquet didn't look like the one I ordered for her. The vase was the same, but the flowers weren't as nice as I hoped. But, she had no idea and she was pleased as punch with them! The problem is the florist has to use the flowers they have in stock and what's in season, so they'll make substitutions.

I've actually gone down to our local florist who is an FTD/Interflora florist placed an order with them & paid there and they've taken care of making the arrangements with an FTD florist in my parents town. She received exactly what I ordered.

About FTD (InterFlora in the UK):
Quote
FTD, Inc. is a leading provider of floral related products and services to consumers and retail florists, as well as other retail locations offering floral products, in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland. The business utilizes the highly recognized FTD and Interflora brands, both supported by the Mercury Man logo, which is displayed in approximately 45,000 floral shops worldwide. The consumer businesses operate primarily through the www.ftd.com  Web site in the U.S. and Canada and the www.interflora.co.uk  Web site in the U.K. and are complemented by the florist businesses which provide products and services to the Company’s independent members.

I've also ordered off the Interflora (FTD) website and have not had any negative experiences.

Have you checked to see if there are any florists local to your grandma who will accept international payments?  That way, you could see exactly what that particular florist has available.

DH sent me the most gorgeous roses I've ever seen for my birthday when I was in the US, unfortunately I don't know what company he used.

And there's always Interflora.

1-800flowers is who I always use, and now they have 1-800 baskets which I love. They arent the cheapest, but have never let me down.  I sent some fantastic chocolate covered and decorated oreos to my dad for his Bday last week.  I also saw a lovely birthday flower cake on their site when I was looking around that I thought was adorable: http://ww12.1800flowers.com/product.do?baseCode=1991&dataset=10147&cm_cid=d10147

Thanks, everyone. I ended up going with 1-800-flowers. I got this one:

with a big stuffed animal (she loves teddy bears and stuff like that.) It took me ages to decide, but I think she will like this!  ;D Wish I could give her a hug for her birthday instead, but I guess this will have to do!

we have used Pro flowers they were very good and last Easter when they didn't get to my mom ontime for Easter not because of them but their 3rd party delivery company. They called me up and resent a whole new arrangement and didn't make me pay for anything. They credited me my money back...and the first arrangement of flowers mom got late there was nothing wrong with them and then she got a new bouquet the next day she was thrilled...they are on the web and I believe their number is 1-800-pro-flowers

Jewlz! I read this post and was like, I bet the DB's ma would like some flowers, she was lovely when I was staying there for 3 weeks and took us out a lot, made it really special etc, and  on the phone to DB last night she was saying how she hadn't cleared away all our stuff (not like our clutter, but an extra chair and things)  as she kept expecting us to walk through the door.

So I went on 1800 flowers and ordered a bouquet at 4:47 for delivery - I just got confirmation they were delivered, 3 hours 2 minutes later!

I don't know what they look like, hope she likes them!

I got her this one :

Well, it's not flowers, but Cheryl and Co. is awesome! My mom is allergic to flowers and my dad LOVES cookies, so I found this as an alternative. They said they were the best cookies they'd ever had!

I was looking at that sort of thing, but my grandma hates chocolate (gasp!) so I didn't know if I could get all cookies that don't have chocolate or not.  :-\\\\ Oh well, hopefully she will like the flowers and bear I sent her!  :)

That's so nice of you to send flowers to your DB's granny, CB! I bet she loves them!  ;D

For my dad, I picked an assortment where you choose all your own cookies to go in! Or they have ones that are all iced sugar cookies, if she likes that kinda thing. Apparently their oatmeal raisin are to die for (according to my mom). :)
