What's your favourite chocolate bar?
« on: January 20, 2010, 12:24:20 PM »
Reading that Cadbury's thread made me start thinking what chocolate bars do I eat. Then I realised, I don't really! I like chocolate biscuits, chocolate cake and chocolate box kind of chocolates but chocolate bars I don't really do.  I think the last chocolate bar I bought was about a year ago and it was a New Zealand one that is hard to find here. (Whittakers Peanut Slab if anyone's interested).

Galaxy Dark...but I'm not a choco eater, but when I do want chocolate this is what I go for. Plus it's what my husband brings home for me when I've had an especially rough day...I love that man!

I don't really like chocolate bars that much either.

I will eat pieces of chocolate, like squares of Lindt, but they are usually too rich to eat a whole lot.

That said however, I LOVE Take 5 bars.  Mainly because I love chocolate covered pretzels and peanut butter and peanuts.

But that said, all the fillings overwhelm the chocolate.  I don't think you need a particularly high quality chocolate when it has a whole bunch of other stuff in the bar.

You could make a Snickers with good chocolate, but I am not sure it would add all that much.  If you know what I mean.

I am the direct opposite.  I don't care for chocolate biscuits, cakes, ice cream (although I have sort of come to enjoy this more as I get older), whatever.  If I am going to eat it, I want it full on chocolate.

I like hazelnut and chocolate bars, so usually I can't go wrong with something with that combination.  However, Fazer chocolate is my favourite.  I don't know if the stuff sold in the UK is the same because I've not seen it here.  Marabou is also very good.

Before I lived in Finland, I used to love Tolberone.  I remember having one on the flight home and thinking it tasted pretty horrible compared to the stuff sold in Scandinavia.  I guess I am not alone as many chocolate lovers prefer Scandinavian chocolate to chocolate from areas more known for quality chocolate production.

The worst chocolate, and I am talking even worse than those "chocolate flavoured" bunnies that you find in the States at Easter, was when I was given some Soviet era chocolate from some Estonians.  That really puts into perspective just how bad chocolate can be.

I like Dairy Milk caramel, but my favourite chocolate bar is Milka.  Oh, and Milky Way Midnight, but that's more a candy bar than a chocolate bar.

Reeses Peanut Butter Cups (although they're not technically a bar) and Snickers.

Green and Blacks chocolate and dried cherry.

MTA: I can't actually eat a whole one at one time though. I'll eat other kinds - snickers, twix, milky way, and I do love a good Cadbury fruit and nut... but lately I don't have the cravings for any candy like I used to.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Oh I like chocolate in all forms... one of my major problems!
Favourite bars include Boost bars, curly wurvys, mars bars, US milky ways, baby ruths, cadbury caramel bars

I love chocolate... biscuits, cake, ice cream, Belgian truffles, etc; but I rarely eat chocolate bars.  On the odd (2 or 3 times a year?) occasion that I eat one, I will go for a Double Decker, or if there is a Nutrageous around, I quite like those.

I really like twirls and double deckers. I used to like boosts when I was a kid but they did a weird thing to the recipe and added more sugar, now they make me want to be sick.

My absolute favourite chocolate thing ever though, is this :

I can only eat 1 or maybe 2 at a time though :)

My favourite buy-it-at-the-supermarket type bar would probably be a Cadbury Whole Nut. Or the yummy white chocolate with krispies in it from Lidl. Or Whispa. Whispa rocks.

My favourite special chocolate bar would maybe a kshocolat dark choc with orange and cardamom, or else perhaps a Rococo milk chocolate with orange and geranium bar.

That's just bars. There are other makes of chocolate that I love too, but they don't all do bars.

It used to be Snickers and Mars, before I started working for a chocolatier and now only our brand will do!  My current obsession is caramel chocolate, though I'd never pass up a simple dark (about 72%) slab.
