It's called Bicester Village, pronounce Bice-ster.

I've never been there, and I'm not a pronunciation expert, but...
I'm 99% certain it's pronounced 'biss-ster', not 'bice-ster'.

Yep, Bicester rhymes with sister.

Agreed - it's just up the road from us (have had to pick up DH at the train station there when he's fallen asleep and missed his train stop! LOL.) It's definitely biss-ter.

Lanikai I can't wait!

I'm heading the Burberry Outlet here next week to sock up!

Ophinky, your hubby may have a new shorts BFF. The poor man would have no clothes left if I took everything!

I will confinscate all DHs white socks and windbreakers. What about 'fleeces' and 'North Face'? Those are wardrobe staples for us and I might cry if I had to get rid on them and my 'poofy vest', oh no!

The Daily Candy in SF is a joke too. It used to be a great resource but it has just become a giant ad!

You may have to get out the tissues.  I'm hard pressed to think of seeing anyone in a fleece but you may be able to slide on the poofy vest.

I don't know anyone who doesn't own a fleece.

I do. It's a vintage Oasis promo fleece, but a fleece nonetheless.  ;)

Perhaps that is the case in Cornwall but the poster is planning a move to Central London where I assure you they are rare.

Why would you have to get rid of something you love wearing? It might not be appropriate work attire in London, but fleece and North Face jackets are great when it's damp and cold, especially if you like to do active things on the weekend.  ;)

Na, anything goes in central London, including fleeces. Maybe not for work, but for shopping and shlepping about, everyone wears one.

Absolutely.

I do get out of Cornwall sometimes, you know!  ;) Actually, I'm British and have spent quite a lot of time in London.

Seriously, all this talk of clothes shopping is sounding really "American" to me. People in the UK (yes, even in London) seem to me to be far less image-focused. I think the OP should just move over and enjoy life without being so concerned with what other people wear.

Just my 2p.

I lived in the London 'burbs (in what is apparently one of the most affluent areas in the UK much to my chagrin) for 6 years and I can promise you that my neighbours and I slobbed around quite often....

Ok, I give up. I've actually lived in Central London for the past 6 years but apparently I have no clue what I'm talking about.

 ???

Noone is saying that your experiences aren't valid. It's just that other people have other opinions and ours are equally valid. And, to be fair, six years isn't all that long. There are UKY members who've been here over 20 years.

I just think that telling the OP what she can and can't wear in London is a bit ... I don't know ... silly. If I were moving to the US and someone told me I had to wear fleeces and white socks, I'd think that a bit absurd, to be honest.

I live in London, a specific area in the UK where I and others have commented that styles are different than they are in the US. We have been having a lighthearted discussion about mainly men's fashion sense.  The original poster has joked about things in her husband's wardrobe which she is going to "misplace" in the move.  No one is telling her what she can and can't wear.

I have lived in London for 6 years which I think is relevant to a discussion about what people are currently wearing in London. And that was what I was referring to when I mentioned how long I have lived in London.
