Computer illiterate! HELP!
« on: January 31, 2010, 06:11:13 AM »
Can someone please explain to me how to create a hyperlink? I think that's what I want to do.

Like when you want to direct someone to some other webpage but don't want to type in the url so you just write something like, "you can find it here" And you click on here and it takes you to there. Is that even a hyperlink? Anyway, I want to create one of those!

Thanks in advance!

When you post a reply, there's a button you can press for a hyperlink (third button from left above the message box, below the underline button and above this smilie:  ;D).

The code looks like this: [url*][/url*] (but don't include the *s - I added those so that the code would show up in my reply) and you type the address you want to link to in between the brackets: []link here[/].

However, if you just type in a website address, this site will hyperlink it automatically for you: www.google.com.

Otherwise to do a 'click here' hyperlink, you need to put 'url=website address' in the first bracket: [url*=www.google.com]click here[/url*], which gives you: click here (just delete the *s)

Am I talking about the same thing?

I think you are just talking about a copy and paste?!

for this forum you need to do it like such:

[ url=http:// ] Type Text [ /url] (but take out all the spaces in the [] except in the Type text area.)   ;)

Otherwise if you just want to insert the whole address without text use the little icon directly under the Underline button when writing a message.
http://  The real difference is just adding the = after the url and moving the first ] to just behind the http:// address.  (I'm sorry if I've made it confusing, unfortunately you can't just insert a demonstration on this site without it actually appearing like the end product.   :P)
