Beer Festivals
« on: February 01, 2010, 06:02:36 PM »
I go to a fair number of beer festivals throughout the year.  A couple of weeks ago I was in Manchester for the Winter Ales Festival, which was absolutely brilliant.

So for anyone who might be interested, here are a few (there are many more than this!) upcoming festivals that you might like to check out:

10-12 Feb
Battersea Beer Festival (Battersea Arts Centre)

18-20 Feb
Liverpool Beer Festival (Metropolital Cathedral Crypt)

5-6 March
Coventry Beer Festival (Coventry Rugby ground)

10-12 March
London Drinker Festival (Camden Centre)

During February, there are also festivals in Derby, Pendle, Chelmsford, Jersey, Tewkesbury, Dover, Dorchester, Rotherham, Luton... loads of other places!

I won't be in the UK until the end of March. Are there any festivals then? I think it would make a great weekend trip too :)

What about Cider festivals? I need to acquire some better cider than Strongbow...although, I love the stuff  ;D

I'm a member of CAMRA, so i get various publications and emails from them.
But you can check their website, which i think has a listing...

After my first CAMRA beer festival, I got pretty drunk off of only 4 half pints.  My DB and I just went for the "real ales" with the highest alcohol content.  Hahaha.  It was so much fun though!

Aricarai, We went to the one in St. Albans in late Sept, and there was a section devoted to Ciders. We both tried a different one, but I can't seem to recall what either was called.  I think they had like 5 or 6 there, but were sold out of some.

I'm planning on going to the Battersea Beer Festival (they are raising money for Battersea Dog and Cats Home's new cattery) on the Friday.  Anyone else going?

How far is that from Portsmouth? I'll be there over Easter. Could be a fun trip to the beer festival!

Barnsley is up in Yorkshire, between Sheffield and Leeds, so pretty far from Portsmouth... according to Google maps, it's about a 4-hour drive each way (about 240 miles).
