Also as already pointed out, to be an individual member, you need to be an employee of certain industries. I can't actually see that on the website above though - for some reason they haven't shown it (unless I'm being Mr Magoo)

Nope, you're not being Mr Magoo - they don't list much information about Individual Membership on their website.  I think this is done to try to limit their membership to an extent, as it's quite suprising how many people actually qualify or have a friend or family member that qualifies.   :-\\\\

You're right on the worldwide usage of your Costco card, the only thing is I'm not so sure how easy it is to add an additional card holder onto an International card...  I don't need to do it, but for the OP if she's intending to add her FH onto her account how easy or difficult is this to do and would it be easier to do in the US opposed to the UK?

I got my card through my mom's company (I work for her), so she said she'll just add him like she would if he was an employee.

Lee Bei,

The lady you spoke to obviously doesn't know the costco policy properly enough. Not just 'anyone' can join, as on the costco website it states that their stores are NOT open to the general public. So joe bloggs off the street cannot just go to a store and pay membership and start to shop.

The big board above the membership section in store also clearly points out who's elegible to join.

Oh well I won't point that out to her, lest she takes mine away from me (not that I use it - I've used it twice and made one purchase in 1 year).

Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.
