Any St. Albans or Harpenden ladies out there?
« on: February 12, 2010, 03:42:15 PM »
I've been living in Redbourn since last June. I have some friends, but most are friends of my husband (Who is also on this board - TomFox). It is getting quite lonely when I know there isn't a girlfriend I could call up and say, "Hey! Want to go get some coffee?" That kind of thing. Just lonely in general. I can't get a job at the moment due to medical problems. And I don't really have anyone to call or hang out with. Any other uk/yankee wives out there? I'm missing home, but mostly missing the companionship I did have...So much more difficult making friends at this age.

So if anyone is interested, please let know. Thanks :)

Oww, I wish you had posted sooner!

I was in the area from sept- dec, and would have loved to meet up then!  I <3 St. Albans, and am hoping that one day, eventually, I'll get to move back there!  (DB is from Leicester/goes to uni in Nottingham...we met in Manchester)..but by far, St. Albans has been my favorite.

If I'm ever back in the area, i'll let you know :)

Aw thanks for the reply.

Well, when you're in the area next and need someone to hang out with, shout my way! :)

Hi! I'm in Welwyn Garden City, Herts. It is only about 10-15 minutes from St. Albans and I've never been to Harpenden but I don't think it's far. I have a car and could always drive to meet you. I too just need a girly friend! One of my own! You can PM me and we can exchange mobiles and try to come up with a time to meet. I love St. Albans and would totally meet you there one day! There is also another UK-Yankee-er that lives in St. Albans who I've been trying to meet up with but I don't think she gets on here often. Maybe the 3 of us could meet up!

We are relocating to Harpenden in May, I work in Luton so the commute is a nightmare and can't wait to move back to the St Albans/Harpenden area  :)

Yay! Colleen, that sounds great. I love St. Albans so much. We actually just drove to Harpenden today and walked around, it is a lovely little town as well. I will probably be living in this area for a while so let me know when you move!

Sure thing! I am such a foodie and love Harpenden, there are some great places to eat there, our lease is up here on May and I can't wait to move. My husband went to school there so he is ready to move back to his childhood hometown  :)

Hi ladies- I am the one who lives in St. Albans and has been trying to meet up with findingaway for a while now. Let's make it happen! I have been poor about getting on here lately. I took a break while job searching as I was finding myself spending hours reading post after post. Anyway, the job hunt is very slow and depressing. I too have really been missing my girlfriends. I feel like I am feeling all the same emotions that a lot of people are feeling on here. It is nice to have this support system.
My schedule is pretty open so let me know. I also could plan something or at least throw out a few dates, ideas if you would like.  Looking forward to meeting you all hopefully sooner rather than later:)
