Do I use married or maden name to file taxes?
« on: February 16, 2010, 12:41:31 PM »
I was married last year and so far have only changed my maiden name on my passport and ID cards. I am about to file my taxes and just wanted to make sure what name I use to file. My Social Security Card is still under my maiden name so therefore I should file under my maiden name...Right?

If you didnt change your social security number then you need to use the name you have listed with the US government (IMO) I changed everything so I have 1 name to equal my SS#

Taxes Stink!

Yeah, you need to use the same name on your SS card.

I've been very naughty. Married for 7 years and I've still yet to change my name on my SS card. I still vote in my maiden name.
