And morning vs evening commute, too!  I'm an early bird, so I'm in the office around 8-ish or a little before, and if I take the bus, it's under an hour, easy.  Even shorter if I take the tube but since the fares increased, I switched to the bus.  But at night?  Forget it, I could be on that bus for close to 2 hours.

Thanks all for your replies :) I will begin looking into other suburbs and yes I have thought of a temporary sublet or hotel suite too and will consider these options further.

Hi there!  I just had to comment on this since you seem to have the same "wish list" as us when it comes to locations.  We are moving at the end of this month from Chicago with our 18 month old.  Just did the relocation trip to find a flat towards the end of last month and decided that Hampstead fit that village feel for us.  It is very quaint and cute plus it was a 45 minute commute for my husband to the city.  I'm sure this could be longer depending on the walk ect...but not too bad overall.  Hope this helps!  It might be worth looking into for you.  I really did not like the urban feel of Kensington/Chelsea, ect...so we were very happy to find such a cute place with a very charming village feel in Hampstead.  Best of luck!
Natalie
