Popcorn
« on: February 18, 2010, 03:11:36 PM »
Has anyone seen any popcorn kernels around? I just want a plain bag of popcorn kernels to make some popcorn at home. We don't have a microwave, and it tastes better old school style anyway. I'm tired of the stale stuff in the bag and want to make some fresh tasty spiced popcorn this weekend. Thanks!

I used to get them at Sainsbury's. Look in the pulses section, not the snack food section. I think that's where I used to find it.

East End do bags of plain unpopped kernals for cheaps, they sell them at Tescos and Sainsburys, as they're "east end" brand they're sometimes with the spices ??? or with the lentils.

Cheaper and nicer to do it old-skool! :)

OK, so its possible then that my local Sainsburys has some and I have just not seen it because I wasn't looking in the right place. I checked their website and they do have some listed online in the rice section.  ??? So, I'll have a better look around then.  :P

yam, I think definitely check the rice/baking/spices section over snack foods. Why? I have no idea!

Julian Graves carry it as well.  If you can't find any, I would be happy to post some to you.

Basically, look everywhere except the snack food section! You know, the place where it would make the most sense!  :P  ;D

Tescos seem to consider it an "ethnic" food item - why oh WHY?

I love popcorn! Like other posters have mentioned, I have found the kernels at Tesco and Waitrose.

I like my popcorn pretty plain. They used to sell a pretty basic bag at Pret, but they've replaced it with some terrible artificial tasting stuff. Yuck.

I've found popcorn in Waitrose's Wholesome section (pulses, nuts and grain...).
