WANTED: temp. room for rent in Manchester area!
« on: March 02, 2010, 03:16:12 AM »
my husband and I are planning a short term stay in the Manchester area sometime after June of this year. We would like to find a temporary housemate situation for our stay. If you have any information that could help us in any way, please let me know! Thank you! :)
A positive attitude may not solve all of your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

For how long and for what purpose?

If it is short term, maybe couchsurfing? I can't vouch for it, but know people who have used it: http://www.couchsurfing.org/

Otherwise, http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ is good. You could search short term self catering appartments. Unless you have a visa that allows you to live in the UK, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to rent, IMO.

You could also try the universities to see if they let their student accommodation rooms in the summer to holiday makers.

There are some extended stay type hotels in Manchester City Centre, one being called (something like) Room. They are probably a bit pricier than renting a room in a home, but imo worth it as they are services. The Town Hall in Manchester has a great touristy place in the lobby and they might be able to help you further! Good luck!

OHmygosh, that CouchSurfing site is amazing. Where the heck was that when I was 18 and ready to escape the US? *LOL* Oh wow. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much! That is going to make our experience so much more amazing. I love connecting with people... what a better way than to do it over a cup of coffee after sleeping over at their house! ^_^
