SongMistress:  I had to laugh at your post - Everytime I meet someone here in England, they ask me if I am Canadian!!!   I don't get why they think I'm Canadian - I mean after all, there are plenty of American Shows on the TV here, so they can tell an American Accent, but NO, I always get, are you Canadian? LOL

Does this Happen to anyone else?  Is it because I'm from the Northeast of the US?  Just curious.

I suspect they ask if you're Canadian because they think you might be American bu don't want to insult you if you are in fact Canadian.  ::)
We had a big thread about this quite a while ago, and I think that was the general consensus.

HI Nancy and welcome to UKY.  Its great to have you here.  I too am from Massachusetts.  Originally from Boston.  But my four siblings and their families all live south of Boston.  Three in Stoughton (next to Brockton) and one in Rockland.  Used to love shopping in the Home Goods store in Brockton.  Its about the only place I know in Brockton though.  Please write me anytime.  I wish you happiness as you settle into your new life.

Hi Nance, welcome!  :) I'm from Mass too, 15 miles north of Boston. I'm currently a student in Glasgow, and my boyfriend lives here as well. Pretty far from Staffordshire! But it's cool to have someone else on here from the Boston area.  :)
Plans on hold 'cuz Brexit

Exactly what I was going to say.  When I am in the UK, people generally seem to assume that I am American.  But when I was in Edinburgh a few years ago, a girl working in a shop asked me if I were American, then before I could answer quickly added "or maybe you're Canadian?" as if she was afraid she might have offended me.
