I've only seen two spiders in the house since moving here 5-1/2 years ago..such a difference from the US where I'd see more than that every summer!

Ack! I'm not even scared of American spiders- not even daddy long legs. I've held a tarantula (as a kid- at a spider talk thingy for kids) but I would NOT want any kind of bug that makes a thud as it hits the ground.

Cheesebiscuit- your bb gun spider story made me cringe! Icccccccckkkkkk! Not sure I'd ever be able to take a shower again in that shower if it'd been me!!!

Was grim. Who knew a spider could contain so much...liquid.

Anyway, I was just thinking about giant insects/arachnids etc as I saw the world's largest bumble bee in our entry way this morning...it was a bit bigger than a bottle cap, now bees don't normally worry me, but this was a mutant! I'm actually assuming it was a queen bee looking for a nest site as it's a bit early for bees, especially giant ones.

*shudder*

Bring back the snow!

Saw something on TV last night about the big bees you'll be seeing right now (early season) are most definitely queen bees!  :)

DH and I went to Kingston Lacy last weekend (stately home in Dorset) and there was a plastic spider in the bath of the lady's bedroom en-suite.  To lend it that real air of authenticity  ;D  I thought about this thread, and had to laugh.
