"Requiem For Detroit?"
« on: March 16, 2010, 12:44:34 PM »
Was shown on BBC2 last Saturday (will be available on iPlayer)
We watched it last night, very interesting documentary about the decline of Detroit. Really the car companies didn't learn anything during the '70's oil crisis.

Did anyone else watch it, particularly wonder if any ex-pat Detroit folk did?

Not from Detroit-- but did watch it and found it fascinating and sad.

I left Bloomfield Township (suburb North of Detroit) to come to Europe. You always think back and wonder if you did the right thing. As regards Detroit, I'll never be sorry for the decision I made. The one comment made during the programme about turning the city of Detroit into farmlands is true, and was highlighted in an article in the Detroit News recently. Sad, and sobering.
