As for chips I found Dorritos lightly salted are GREAT for dip!
I actually prefer Tesco Economy tortilla chips over any of the big brands. They're super cheap, come in smaller bags so you only have to open what you need (and so the excess doesn't go stale) and they're also lightly salted. We use them for nachos and dips whenever we have parties.

I like those ones as well.  They taste more 'corny' than Doritos, to me at least.

Similarly, I preferred Sainsbury's Basics tortilla chips to Dorito's brand. Now I get M&S lightly salted chips (no Sainsbury's in Ireland) because they're super cheap and tasty!

The Waitrose ones are good, too!  They're not as salty as the Doritos, which have seemed super salty to me on the few occasions I've had them.

So if someone who eats it wants to weigh in.

I picked up a box of this a few weeks ago and finally got round to trying it this weekend.  My verdict:  ICK!

This is NOT Velveeta at all.  The flavour is really different and the consistency, both cold and when melted down, doesn't come anywhere near the smooth creamy (ok, some might say oily...) consistency you get with Velveeta.

I actually threw out the dish I'd made with this stuff....just couldn't eat it.

I'll stick to using Seriously Strong Spreadable when I *really* need a Velveeta substitute, and otherwise bring back the odd box of real US Velveeta to hoard.
Not MrsRichUK anymore!  :-)

I agree!  After melting, it seems to return to its solid state very quickly.  Not nice at all.

thought it was ok but I do add milk more so with this stuff. I admit I cheated by putting real velvetta in with it :-) that seems to help and it's good for chips and queso when I crave it

I brought some Velveeta back from the US with me...I don't remember it being so salty.  Maybe my pregnant tastebuds have changed or something but I feel like I'm drinking loads and loads of water afterwards.

I also SWEAR I saw Kraft Mac & Cheese in a Tesco the other week...was in a rush, so no time for a closer look.  I'll have another nosey and report back.

They just got it at our Tesco recently. It's in the Afro-Carribean section! They have been carrying it in the same section at Asda for a while, too.

We tried the Kraft Cheddar. I wanted it to throw in a cheese sauce, similar to Mrs. R's but I use processed cheese in mine... I thought it was okay, but it is not Velveeta. Thanks anyway, bookgrl! That could have been a good find! I would even continue using it as Velveeta, except it's ridiculously expensive for such a small pack!!!
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

Sorry I keep meaning to post on here too.  We also think ICK on this.  It has a really weird texture/consistency and doesn't melt like normal Velveeta should.  I don't know what went wrong either, as ours got really lumpy as it cooled it off, giving a gross curdling effect.  The taste is a bit weird, too.  £2.99 I will not be getting back any time.

I guess this is what everyone is talking about?

ETA: Whoa... on another note... I just noticed they have Lay's Paprika flavoured crisps... like the ones we had in Greece! Yummy... (And it even says Lay's on the package instead of Walkers... weird.)
