Visa Waiver Program
« on: March 24, 2010, 08:14:34 PM »
My DF is traveling in 1 months time to the US from the UK. He applied for the Visa Waiver Program on his last visit in June 09. Does he need to apply again or does this remain in place once you have applied?

I know there is a new $10 fee to enter the US, he didn't have to pay it then, will he have to pay it now?

Thanks in advance?

 :)

Do you mean the ESTA online registration? If so, it is valid for 2 years, so if he did it in June 2009, then he won't have to do it again until June 2011 (or the next time he travels to the US after June 2011).

I haven't heard about a $10 fee at all though - I just entered and exited the US this weekend and didn't have to pay anything at all (although I have a visitor visa and so didn't use the ESTA). Just looked it up online... looks like the proposed fee will not be introduced for at least another 5 months to a year (http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2010/mar/05/us-charge-tourists-to-enter), so he doesn't need to worry about that part just yet.

No problem :).

Just to add to this: it says on the ESTA website that if he renews his passport within the 2 years or any of his details/answers to the ESTA questions change before June 2011, he will need to register again using the new details :).
