Jo, I don't want you to give up anything. I just don't like dairy products because I feel better when I don't eat them. I don't eat tofu on potatoes...but then I never ate sour cream on them either! Actually, I don't even like sour cream. ha!

Right there--that is the whole key to what you eat and what you don't eat.  If it makes you feel healthier...GO FOR IT!!  If we all ate for health rather than taste, we'd be a nation of trim, fit and reasonably healthy people!

Dear G0d.  The Surgeon General of the US warns you about smoking. He/she does not warn you about the dangers of dairy products.  There have been many hundreds of generations since the first domestication of the cow  (circa 7000 BC) - none of them suffered.  There are people who have resistance to all sorts of things, but the majority are not resistant to dairy products.  So stop worrying.

I've been vegetarian for about 17 years but there is NO WAY I could give up dairy products. I don't think there's anything evil about yoghurt or cheese. In fact, I find yoghurt has many beneficial qualitites for the digestive system (and I am talking about REAL yoghurt, not that processed coloured sweetened rubbish) and eat at least 1 litre a week and have done all my life - was brought up on home made yoghurt way before all those stupid ads for "friendly bacteria."

I know some people are allergic to dairy foods or have various bad reactions and anyone who finds they are better off without dairy in their life, for whatever reason, should stop eating it.

But PLEASE do not tell me I shouldn't eat it because we aren't meant to drink cow's milk. I wasn't born sucking on a soya bean either!
