I'm so excited for you that its all done.  They are probably just warning you a call may happen, I wouldn't expect it as a definite. I hope though that your wait is short.  Although you do have Target to help get you through (uh I miss the Tarjay...)
Best of luck! x

Hi everyone! <<UPDATE>>

So I just got off the phone with our expeditor. I know they are merely forwarding our stuff to the proper offices, but it was nice that they called to update me.

Our application was delivered this morning, and the update was that we should not expect to hear back within 24-48 hours as with some previous applications. I've read about this new procedure with all settlement visas, so I'm hopeful.

They said it could take a couple more days than normal, which is just more waiting time I guess.

I was originally schedule to fly to London on Wednesday. I have a ticket, and although we were cutting it short, we were still hoping for the best.

Now with the air traffic issues, and this visa taking longer than we had wished, I'm thinking I may wait til Monday to see if we hear news, and then try to rebook my flight.

When I answered the phone I was hoping for immediate good news, but was ready to hear a "this is going to take a few days longer". We are happy to wait, just really stressed out through this process.

Here's to hoping everything works out. In life, nothing works as you plan. I figure its how we respond to things thrown at us.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Makes us both feel better and less alone.

Will update you when we hear more. Here's to hoping! <fingers crossed>

It's Tuesday morning and we're still in a holding pattern.

Likely my flight from LA to Heathrow will be canceled and rebooked because of the ash. Interesting waiting game on this side, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't stressed.

Not much from the consulate yet, as I'm sure they are coping with a lot of issues.

So we submitted to the expeditor on Thursday, and just keeping our fingers crossed. No idea when I'll be rebooked, so that's making this whole getting married thing a bit more challenging to plan.

Anyone else booked and trying to get on a flight to the UK? Even better, anyone else waiting for VISA stuffs, AND trying to get rebooked to the UK?

Two weeks today for me.  My expediter said nothing, absolutely nothing, is coming out of the consulate.  I don't know how much longer I can wait...We are about to be homeless! I fear all this talk about it being a month and can only hope that I can report good news to all of us waiting, but it looks like we all might be stuck awhile.  I would see how far out you could book your tickets because it's very uncertain how long these visas will take to be issued.  Yours and mine are both at the LA consulate, and I'm not so sure much is coming out of the other consulates. I'd like to know if anyone is having success from Chicago or DC?

Sorry I can't report better news...Breathe!

Hey Julie,

I'm there with you. It's a really bad waiting game but I keep telling my partner, we waited so many years to meet each other. We can wait a few weeks to be together. As for rebooking, since my flight is technically tomorrow night, it is not cancelled as of yet. So I can't call Virgin and rebook til I'm officially bumped.

I am really sorry to hear about your housing situation. But I am a positive thinker, and although I am stressed beyond belief, this is a story to tell for years to come.

And to put it another way, all my freaking out ness in the last 2 weeks have introduced me to new friends in the UK, who I will likely need to cry on when I miss having tacos at 3am, or need to find something like a Target.

So needless to say, when we feel alone, we never really are. Just gotta open up my eyes and look around and see my situation is infinitely better than some others.

So here's to sending you a big hug and hoping those of us waiting to hear back for Visas, Marriage, and a lucky plane ticket will get the go-ahead soon enough.

Until then, there's faith, and Skype.

No word on the Visa, it's been 5 working days. Alas. the best part is ive been on hold with virgin atlantic for over 6 hours now. I have a major back spasm, need to pee, and starving to death, but since my cordless batteries went out a few hours ago, im trying to hold out hope someone picks up the phone soon.

Ive made a few friends on Facebook who are on the VA thread and they too have been waiting for hours hoping to get through. This is absolutely nuts. Talk about nothing getting in the way of my soon to be happy day!

Yeah! Congrats.  Just wanted to add my completely unasked for words.  ;D

My mom and aunt are stuck here in London with me. They can't get home. They have now stayed a week longer than the were scheduled. I'm absolutely out of my tree now.  Started drinking at 9am.

And there is nothing here like Target. I still miss it. If they opened one up within a hundred miles I would make a pilgrimage just to see it again.

As for In-n-Out burger (and El Pollo Loco), well, I can't get that in Colorado sadly so we can't really blame England for that.

Good luck!
