Old Cotswold Legbar Eggs
« on: March 30, 2010, 10:28:09 PM »
Today I was gathering things to dye eggs. I just have a desire to dye some eggs for Easter this year.

I was trying to find white eggs as the colour will come out better and ran across these:

They're a light pastel blue egg! I had no idea these existed. I got some as well as some duck eggs (they were the only white eggs I could find). I'll dye a couple of the blue chicken eggs but it seems to be a bit of a waste as they're already naturally coloured.

Apparently the old cotswold legbar eggs can come in different colours, like peach and pink!

So cool!

I love those! We used to indulge and buy them a few times. I think there are other rarer breed chickens that also produce fun colored eggs.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

These are great eggs, I often get them- I came across them in trying to respect my vegetarian daughter's concerns about conditions of chickens. I do admit they are a bit more expensive and the cheapness in me sometimes wins out and I don't buy them.

I got white eggs, and egg dye, at my local Polish shop.
