Last I heard, it won't be until July that they will settle it. Knowing bureaucracies, that means the end of July...2313.

It looks like they've just announced the Tier 4 in-person application possibilities, available from June 1st (https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/Welcome.aspx - select United States from drop-down menu and then Additional Services on the Welcome page under Latest News).

Ksand--Thanks so much for looking this up! it may be worth it for me to take a trip up to NYC this summer...Plus, I'll even get to visit my sister if I take this route :)

i wouldnt doubt it, in fact is probably looks like it will be. This is just an opinion. It really sucks though, gonna leave all of us scrambling trying to sort everything out at same time, last minute!!

Besides the federal stafford loan i got to figure out how im gonna get the rest of the money since i dont qualify for parent plus or gradplus. Gonna be a miss ol mess come july.

Has anyone been able to start this yet? The  boy is starting at Imperial in September and we wanna get going, we normally apply mid-June, so we're not crazy off schedule. but it is frustrating!
I imagine it's nightmarish if you're wiating on visas.

Leeds is saying July 1st *at the earliest* I'm guessing that means mid-July.  I'm trying not to worry, as I'm sure this will all work out in the long run.  I just wish I could have a better idea of when I'm going to be able to head over.  It looks like I won't even be able to visit this summer because we aren't sure when I'm applying for my visa, so we aren't sure when my passport is going to be with the UKBA. grarrggg

Try not to worry! Time will pass quicker than you think, as international moves somehow keep people busy. The autumn will be here soon, I promise!  Sending good vibes! :)

Thanks MLG.  One of my hobbies is worrying, but I'm trying to be more chill about things.  Things always seem to work out for the very best in the end.  :)

My only suggestion is to make a list of what you need to do and make a list of what you'd like to do when you get here, so you can focus on some of the positive things when you are stressed. At any rate, hope you find a strategy to deal with the stress, but just know it is perfectly normal!  ;)

Though I haven't written out an actual list, I've been trying to prepare for the move by 1-Cleaning out my closet and donating bags upon bags of stuff to Goodwill. 2- Stocking up on things I can't live without whenever it goes on sale (Secret deodorant, mainly..). 3- Working on the scrapbook I should have done 3 years ago (I had a huge pile of things to go in it just sitting in my closet...).

In terms of University....
-I've gotten the same message from Nottingham about loans--they won't be certified until the beginning of June.
-I check almost daily to see if my "conditional" offer has changed to "unconditional" (First they needed to receive 2 official, stamped reference letters and a transcript....now we're just waiting for one reference, which was received by the Uni, but hasn't made it to the Chemistry dept. yet..)  So there's that to follow up with
-I applied for scholarships at the university, and continue to search for others on sites like FastWeb.
-I continue to *nag* my DB about accommodation on a weekly basis--We're trying to move into his friend's current place, but need to contact her landlord to set up the specifics.

What has everybody else been doing to keep themselves busy instead of stressing out about the loans process???

I have been working.  I need to come up with a plan of attack soon.  With my trip to Peru happening at the same time loan information will become available, it makes me just little crazy.  My trip is also a major event so that is why I am not too focused on the loan stuff.  I have to take one thing at a time (though I am still making small steps for London) and then when I get back focus on work and London.

Think i got an update for everyone applying for Federal loans. On another site i visit there is a thread on this topic as well. It seems we will be able to apply for july for stafford loans. The poster linked this

 http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/student-funding/financial-support/student-loans/usa

He also said this an ill quote "I think all that's holding us back is the US student aid website hasn't added other countries to the school list when you apply (already tried it) and as soon as they do we can apply!"

So it seems once the gov updates their site we should be in the go. Dont quote me, but do check out the link, might have some useful information!

PS. UPDATE!! The poster from other site, said "We can apply now! The list has been updated!"  im a look into this!!

Wow, this is great news!  I am going to look into this as well.

Do you know if we should go ahead and apply or wait for some sort of contact from our school?  I mean -- do I have to wait for the loans person at my school to say 'She can take out x amount of pounds'?  And what do we do about the exchange rate?

While things on the US side might be ready to go, I would think that it still may take a little more time on this side of the pond.  The people working in the registries will be getting trained for the new process.  I would contact your uni first to see if they are ready for you to apply and maybe perhaps mention that you noticed that it is possible now.
