Wimbledon - is it a good area?
« on: April 10, 2010, 01:31:30 AM »
I know that there is another post on what areas are better than others, but I haven't seen anything specifically about Wimbledon...more so the Collier Wood area.  Is this area good to live?  I've seen quite a few flats (large one bed to two beds) that would be within our range I'm predicting.

However, my husband and I are making a visit to London to check out some areas that we are thinking of moving to.  I wish we could move closer to the city, but I know that finances won't/don't allow for such a thing, so we'll have to be somewhere with at least zone 3 of the tube lines.

If anyone has any other areas they like that are relatively safe and affordable (affordable meaning about 200-250 GBP/week), I'd love to check the areas out when we go in September.  (Hubby's from Hull, Yorkshire, so he's not overly familiar with the different areas of London.)

Much thanks in advance.

I am running out but wanted to bookmark your post.

I live in Wimbledon Village, which is a bit better than Wimbledon itself, but i LOVE the area.  Overall, it is a great place to live.  There are certainly areas of Wimbledon that are less great than the rest but you would really get a sense of that with a visit.

It is also really convenient.  You do have the Tube but better yet, Wimbledon is a hub for mainline trains and 5 minutes journey away from Clapham, which is one of the busiest stations in England.  It is super convenient for zone 3.
