Bank of America online transfers work?
« on: April 11, 2010, 03:41:22 PM »
I was told that I could make international wire transfers on Bank of America's website.  Now when I need to, I am not able to as it won't fully allow me to add a recipient's account on the website!  The customer service department is trying to tell me that it may be because I am trying to do so from a computer inside the UK - probably not true.

So just checking to see if anyone on here has successfully done an online wire transfer with Bank of America to a UK account while using a computer here in the UK.????

Bank of America can be such a pain to deal with!

Hiya,
I maintain a Bank Of America account in Massachusetts, which is where im from originally.
However i'd  never heard of doing online international wire transfers. If i need to transfer $$ to my Bank of Scotland account I just go my local Bank of Scotland branch and i have both my Bank of America card and Bank of Scotland card and my drivers license(UK)
and just tell them how much i want to transfer. Both accounts are in my name.
I've also never had a problem with dealing with Bank of America.. but then again i rarely every need to. I've been here almost 11 years now lolol

Thanks for the reply - no one ever mentioned to me that way of transferring money between US-UK banks. :)

I use xe.com (trade page).  While it's a pain to set up at first, it's so easy to use after that.  You get a decent exchange rate and no fees.

I ended up using XE Trade.  It is a pain to set up but it works and no fees!  Bank of America charged $45 wire transfer fee and $25 to research it when the wire didn't go through.  I am working on getting them to refund those charges.  I assume the exchange rate is about the same as with XE trade.  Thanks for the tip!
