Everyone keeps asking me, "Oh well the skies are open now. Why can't you get back?"

"Ummm...because the earliest flight I could get on was May 2... it's quite backlogged" And I get this look of  ???

Yeah that's not too bad.  I know some people who can't get a flight back until May 11th...and that's only IF there are no more disruptions.

I just want my luggage back sometime before all the maternity and baby clothes in it are useless to me.   :(

I can sympathize.  My husband has a flight back from the US on April 26/27 and feels lucky to have that because even though planes are flying again, there are no available seats on those flights.

95,000 reservations have to be re-routed - can you imagine the task at hand?

Don't envy the airline industry.  Especially because they've got to fit in us cancelled people around already existing reservations.

Yay! My in-laws just got off the phone with BA and they were able to get seats on next Monday nights flight Houston-Heathrow!  :)

They've been here a month and were due to fly out this past Monday. I'm so relieved for them - they had only packed a few days' extra medications and they were going to run out if there stayed much longer! The British Embassy said they'd have to go to a walk-in clinic here and get a US Rx then have it filled out of pocket since there's no reciprocation agreement on medical care. Their travel insurance would reimburse them after they got back, but that'd be several hundred dollars!  :o

Anyway, they got their seats and we're all relieved!  :)

Good luck to everyone trying to get their flights re-booked!
