Not sure why flying your dog over is funny, but to get a good answer on this, you will need to call the airline you are going to be using.  For a rough idea, I flew my 20lb dog from Denver to London on BA for $1200.  I would expect for you to pay about $700-900 or so.

I flew my cat from CAnada on air Canada and it cost me about $200.  it's more expensive than that now but not much.

I was excited about this too until I realized they only give you 1,000 miles (regardless of the fact that your pet is flying at least 3,000, and in my case I was flying 2 pets). For me, at least, it turned out to be cheaper to fly with BA (who included all fees so nothing paid on the UK end) than go with Virgin.

If you have multiple route/airline options you may want to check them all out and price compare.
