Hello, I have jumped onto the UK Yankee Wagon - whoopee
« on: April 16, 2010, 11:02:37 AM »
Hello Everyone

Came across this site through another similar website.  Just wanted to say "Hello" as I surf, collect information and advice to what we should do next.

This seems like the best place for us to be seeing you do offer great advice and you are stacked with valuable information.

Okay ....now that bit is out of the way, let me tell you a bit about us.

I am a Uk Citizen (with a 5 year son from a previous relationship)and my future fiance/husband is a US Citizen.  We have been dating since August 2009 via internet.  We first met in the US Dec 09 and more recently April 2010 (2 weeks at a time).  I have met his family and was greatly received  by his parents.  We communicate six days a week - cam sessions lasting usually between 4-8 hours each day.  427 emails later and telephone calls we have decided to get married.  Yes we are VERY much in Love and we cant wait to be together in the UK.

I thought life was simple until he tried to make a general visit (March 2010) for three months to the UK and was refused/deported back to the US :o for economic reasons.

So now we need to put our engagement/marriage application together correctly and will need help/support.     I am so glad to have discovered this forum and look forward to hearing from you all.

Welcome!  Many of us met our SOs online - I did.  Met in 2003, moved over & married 2004, and I've been here ever since.

If you're looking specifically for help with a visa, I'd suggest Visas & Citizenship.  Really depends on what you need at the moment... Expat Life is a good starting place, plus we're all about the Food on here (Food Talk)!  :)

Thank you very much Mrs Robinson for the pointers......yes I think I had best start with the Visa and Citizenship.  We want to get engaged and married before August 2010 in Jamaica.  I think our application will not be as simple to complete seeing he has been deported already (humiliating experience for him :-[) in March 2010.  We did not think it would be difficult to meet initially and so now he is wanting to make sure we do things correctly and according to procedures.

I think we can look at the food talk later...lol
