Just a small update :)

I have now been livign in Cardiff (Granngetown) for 2 1/2 months

and .. do I LOVE it :) .. it's an absolutely beutifull town .. the house prices are a bit highh for me, so i am still cnsidering Swansea (a lil cheaper) ..

I personally do not feel at risk anywere at night (well, then again, I am 6' 300lbs)  ;D

and man, what a year to be in cardiff! 100 years since it became a city, 50 years since it became capital of wales!!!!
man, cant wait to get back in may, just in time for all the really big celebrations.
its weird, when i lived in cardiff(all 19 years of my life before moving to america), i had no pride in cardiff, it was weird. but now ive been here in america for 2 years, i love cardiff so much, and regreat all those years of thinking where i lived was awful. I wouldnt live in cardiff all my life either, btu i cant wait to go back in may. get to show my wife all the great parts, shes only been there when we went on a short visit for two weeks...now we get to stay as long as we want!

great news that your settling in. have you been to clwb ifor on a wednesday night yet? my band will be playing in barfly around july time, u will have to come along!

I too live in Swansea.  I'm in shock that I've found another member living here.  Now that's exciting!  I moved over to Swansea from Boston.

Kizmet, I just had to reply! I moved to SW Pembrokeshire (not exactly Swansea, but not far off) from Providence (not exactly Boston, but not far off). What are the odds?!?!?!!?

Do you people in S Wales know how lucky you are? Besides living in about the most beautiful part of the UK you can get Cholula hot sauce at a funny little shop in Mumbles!

Some of us are still a long way from Mumbles.  :(  What's the name of the funny little shop, though? I do pass through the Swansea area on my way to visit people from time to time.

Not to mention SAFE.

I honestly feel safe here, you dont hear of murders and gun firing incidents liek you do in the US all the time ..  :-\\\\

My only shock was when I went looking for a daycare and got quoted 27£ per day, per kid .. that's over 100$USD a day for my 2 girls ... ouch.

You're right, it is incredibly safe. I'm not sure how people in London and other large cities feel, but out here in the middle of nowhere, I feel safer than I have in years. Not only do I often not lock my door, but during the day (and warm weather) I leave it wide open. I haven't even seen a policeman or police car in these parts since moving here, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I still crack up over "crime" stories in our local paper, though. My favourite one was from last year when a loo roll holder was stolen from the public toilets. That made the front page!  ;D

How do you like Pembrokeshire ?

That's really out there :) .. I am still undecided if i want to go further west or not .. (more rural)
