Duh. If I read, I would have known that. Sorry! Have you been back to New England since moving? I'm going back for my first visit in September ... and am not really sure if I'm looking forward to it. Mixed feelings.

I lived in N.E. for 7 years .. I hated it (reason why I moved to FL).

Now, funny thing .. my Wife is a native New Englander.. she was born in Swansea (MA), and lived all her life in the Swansea/Somerset Area .. after we got married and I convinced her to move, she tought she woudl miss it too much ... on her first trip back to MA, she realised how much she actually didnt miss it at all, and how depressing the whole area can be ..  :(

Personally, I got a psycotic EX-Wife living in Fall River, so the idea of going back there is not apealling at all  ;D

Well, that would do it!  Actually, if I HAD to live in the US, it wouldn't be anywhere but New England. Florida is a nice place to visit, but not really for me. However, I find living over here so much better in every way. The quality of life is 100% better. The only thing I miss about the US is my friends.  :(

My Biggest problem here in the Uk is the .. food :p

I heard all the jokes and rumors before moving here, and I tought it was just that .. a joke

nope .. it's all true .. the food here really sucks  :P

Now .. I have training as a cook,, so in teory it should not matter if the food i bad, you just make your own .. but it does when  you cant find none of the ingredients .. all  can find is 100 flavors of CURRY .. wich unfortunately I cant stand.

That's probably my problem .. is the fact i dont like indian :(  .. London is a very quick ride from cardiff I must say .. just went there last weekk to pick up a computer, and it took me just a lil over 2 hours .. and a nice M4 ride... I might take another ride and go shop around.

but I have taken a liking to beef and kidney pie  ;D

Aw, NullMind, I really have to disagree! The food here is fabulous! Yes, it's true that sometimes we have a hard time finding things we were used to getting in the US, but I'm sure a British person over there would feel the same way. Overalll, I think the quality of fresh food here is far better than in the US. I can go to a pub, spend a pittance on a meal, and have really good fresh fish caught that day. If I wanted that in the US, I would have to go to a top restaurant and spend a fortune! The bread is better, too (I'm obviously talking about bakery bread, not supermarket "plastic" bread).

Can anyone else defend British food with me???

humm .. actually .. my problem is I am Portuguese  8)

You want to talk fresh fish and meat  ;D, one of the things that really spoiled me was, on the way to the UK, I spent 10 months in the Azores Islands (Portugal) with my wife and kids (my folks live there) .. I think had I came straight from the US -> UK I would have not seen it the same way (foodwise).

I certainly agree with belindaloo.  I spend part of the year in the States and part of the year in the UK, and I definitely eat better here.  In the UK, never any fast food, instead, the fresh-cooked special of the day in a cafe, on plates with silverware, or ready-to-cook or heat-and-eat meals from Sainsbury's or Marks & Spencer.  Or curry, which I love.

Now I understand the RI/Mass connection! I have lots of Portuguese friends back in the Providence area. Can't you find any good chourizo in Cardiff??

Here's a restaurant to try next time you come to London:

It was mentioned to me by a friend.
