I also say between Chicago & NY as a geographical reference as they're much larger and reknowned cities.

Could be worse.  You could always give refrence to the Cuyahoga River's burning infamy (ie. catching the mayor's hair on fire on live TV) and being a major spurring point towards water polution legislation and the creation of the EPA.

Also, Care Bears are from Cleveland.  I was informed this by one of my bosses over here as she was obsessed with them and freaked out when I told her I was from Cleveland, OH.   

Yes, the things that make you proud to be from the Cleveland area...   

Hahaha, the burning river... actually it does get worse as I went to Kent State. Luckily, only people over the age of 60 or those who know a good bit of American history seem to know about the shootings there.

I had no idea Care Bears are from Cleveland. That's hilarious! Probably more hilarious that you have a boss obsessed with them! I'll start introducing myself with, 'Hello. I'm from Cleveland, home of the Care Bears.'

Ahem....I am over 60 and I remember it all - Kent State, Hough Avenue riots, burning river, new year's eve celebrations on Public Square, Ralph Perk's toupee catching on fire, the boy mayor, and care bears which were a product of American Greetings.

Actually anyone that watched Stephen Fry's America programme or read his book (it's pretty much verbatim of the show) would know Ohio's infamy as the Kent State shooting.    Unfortunately that's pretty much all he mentioned of Ohio when he drove through it.     So perhaps that maybe that's what you should give reference to.
