Chicagoan in Leeds
« on: May 09, 2010, 10:56:14 AM »
Hello all...  I've actually been in the UK for nearly 8 years now, and am feeling the need to connect with some Americans!  I'm originally from Chicago, I lived in Shropshire for a while and I've recently moved to the Leeds/Bradford area.

Would love to meet up with some people in the Leeds/Bradford area, will be on the lookout for any meet-ups, or maybe I'll make my own!

Welcome - quite a few of us throughout Leeds & Yorkshire!  You should organise a meetup!  :)

Think I just might do that!  I just started a new job and am away for training until the end of the month, so I'm thinking later this month I'll try and get something going.

I'm going back home on 23 June, so it's got me thinking all American-y!

Hello and welcome!  I'm from Iowa and I now live in York!  The Leeds ladies are very friendly and as Yorkshire group we're always up for a meet-up.  :)

Should expand my original comment to say 'North Americans' ;)

I'm in Guiseley, I wonder if anyone here knows where that is?

Yep, Andee (another gal on the forum) & I live not too far from Guiseley.  Most of the Leeds gals who get together regularly seem to be in north/northwest Leeds.  :)

That's really good to hear, I hadn't heard of Guiseley until about three weeks before I moved here.  Had dinner in Ilkley the other day, how is that place not more popular, it's gorgeous!

Really looking forward to meeting up with people, will be out of touch Mon-Fri for the next two weeks but will be here on the weekends and hope to get together soon...

Ilkley, like Harrogate in North Yorks, is an old Victorian era spa town, and yes it is lovely!  It is also generally more expensive to live there as a result.  :)

Hi & welcome to UKY!

I'm originally from Cleveland, OH and now in South Yorks.  I do a meetup group primarily around Sheffield / South Yorks and need to get back into it if my health would only improve!   :P  However, I am willing to go farther a field if someone will help me with areas I'm not familiar with.

I know there was a gal doing a meetup group in Leeds / North Yorks, but she said she was giving it up a while back.  She was running it on Facebook after not wanting to pay the fees of meetup.com.  So, yes there is an audience for meetups.   ;)

Hi Erika and everybody,

I've been here in Leeds now since 2008, but I lived in the South Suburbs of Chicago for 15 yrs, my parents and sister still live there. I think it would be a great idea to get together with others for a meet-up.
