Amusing....
« on: August 16, 2004, 03:16:12 PM »
Here I am waiting for my accent to soften, and what happens yesterday?  I was talking about tomatoes on my sandwich and said, as I do, "to-may-toes".  And, then Jamie - without thinking about it - said it that way, instead of his normal "to-mah-toes"!  LOL.  It just slipped out, he wasn't making fun of me.  He said, "Dammit, it's to-mah-toes, not bloody to-may-toes!"  We both laughed and I said, 'It's not supposed to happen that way!  You are supposed to soften my accent, not the other way around!'

My 6 year old nephew speaks to me in an American accent and to his mum in his normal Scots way!
When I find a funnier sig than twistedncynical's, it will be here.

After just a month's time in the UK, one of my sons (3 1/2 at the time) picked up a "to-mah-to" at the grocery store. Probably because I don't eat them, so they mostly heard Dimitri saying the word with his accent.

At the beginnign of last century, some doctor (cant recall his name) adopted a baby monkey and let him play with his 5 year old son, the idea was to see if the monkey would learn to act human.

instead the boy started to act like a monkey.

goes to show you .... :D

Well, Jamie is noticing my accent softening more than I am noticing it.  But, that is all well and good....that's the way it's supposed to happen!  I keep dropping the g's off of things, like: somethin' instead of my "proper/perfect" somethinG!  hehehe   ;D
